Putting the ‘I’ in SCIENCE

I am a Bioscience Postgraduate with extensive experience in Biochemistry, Microbiology, and Synthetic Biology.

Working as a Research Assistant and Chemical Pathologist has honed my research and lab skills.

In contrast, my experience as an intern in Patenting and Marketing has allowed me to adapt my scientific skills to a corporate environment.

Scientific experience

01. Research Assistant

Cardiff Metropolitan University

Sep/2022 - Present

  • Performing and assisting with various Laboratory Procedures such as ELISAs, Cell Cultures, Tissue Cultures, Viability/Proliferation Assays, RNA/DNA extraction, Immunochemistry, HPLC, and other chromatographic techniques

  • Working with Professors/Technicians to maintain a proper Lab environment (Good Laboratory Practices) and assisting Undergraduates with final-year projects.

  • An active part of a commercially funded research project that delineated the wound-healing capabilities of several elderflower extracts.

02. Chemical pathologist

Indus valley laboratories

Jun/2019 - Sep/2022 (NON-term time)

  • Successfully performed HPLC analysis on blood samples taken from patients to determine Hba1C levels in order to diagnose diabetes.

  • Significantly automated routine testing of ER blood samples by 40% by improving the efficiency of Bio-testing machinery.

  • Published a clinical proposal and report on the correlation between positive Hep-B tests and consequent PCRs.

  • Ran toxicology tests to assess the presence and levels of different compounds within tissue and fluid samples.

03. Research Assistant

Cardiff University

Sep/2020 - May/2022 (Term time)

  • Successfully performed molecular tests such as ELISAs, Western Blots, QPCR, etc., and followed up with statistical, qualitative, and quantitative analyses of their results.

  • Collaborated in various scientific projects and their write-ups, including editing and performing literature searches.

  • Active part of a funded research project to discover the insecticidal properties of specific bacterial proteins.

  • Scientifically proved that the bacterial protein Cry37Aa was insecticidal and could be utilized commercially.

corporate experience

01. Scientific Patent Attorney (intern)

Ali & Associates

May/2021 - Sep/2021

  • Increased workplace efficiency by 30% via digitizing work training programs and reducing time to train new employees by over 50%.

  • Fully encapsulated and delivered lectures on the differences between Asian and UK/European patent law to new hires as part of their training.

  • Successfully presented and negotiated patent documents to potential clients, focusing mainly on research and strategy analysis.

02. Scientific Marketing intern

Ali & Associates

May/2020- Sep/2020

  • Proficient in developing and executing pharmaceutical marketing strategies that drive brand awareness and increase sales within highly regulated environments.
